Bro Science is a personal strength-training tracker. This policy explains what it collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. It's written to be read, not to hide behind legalese.
We do not collect your location or contacts, we do not use advertising identifiers, and there are no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
Your data is stored locally on your device and synced to a private server we operate, so it's available across your devices and not lost if you reinstall. It is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
The person who operates this app can see the data on that server, including your coach conversations. It is a personal app run by one person, not a company with staff, and access is used to keep the app working and to look into something you report - not browsed for its own sake.
If an account belongs to someone under 18, a parent or guardian can ask us to receive a copy of that account's coach conversations by email, as ordinary parental oversight. When this is on, each exchange - what was asked and what the coach replied - is emailed to the address the parent gave. It covers only the coach conversation, not the rest of the app, and it is set up only at a parent's or guardian's request.
If you use the in-app AI coach, the messages you send it, along with the relevant parts of your routine, recent training, saved facts, and profile needed to answer, are sent to a model provider to generate a reply. Any photo you attach to a message goes with it. We use two: Google (Gemini) answers most messages, and Anthropic (Claude) answers the rest and is the fallback whenever the other is unavailable. Which one answers a given message is decided by our server, not by you, and both receive the same information. Neither uses it to train their models. Don't send anything to the coach you wouldn't want processed by a third-party API.
Our API keys are never in the app. Messages go to our own server first, which holds them and calls the model provider on your behalf, so the app itself never talks to either of them directly.
The coach can search the web when a question needs current information. When it does, the search query it writes is sent to whichever provider answered that message, and on to their search partner. It searches for what you asked about - it does not send your training data, your profile, or your identity along with the query.
If you report an issue with the coach, the report includes the note you write, the messages you tick to send with it, any screenshot you attach, and your app version and device OS version. Reports are readable only by the app's operator, and are used to fix what you reported.
When you share a routine, only the routine's structure (its days, exercises, target sets/reps, rest times, and any per-exercise notes and machine settings attached to it) is uploaded so someone with the link can import it. Your workout history, measurements, and personal data are never included in a shared routine, and neither are the nicknames you have given exercises - a shared routine always uses the standard exercise names.
The same applies to Adam's Split, the one built-in shared split: subscribing to it copies its structure onto your device, and nothing about your own training goes back the other way.
Some notifications are scheduled locally on your device - a rest timer finishing, a follow-up after a nap - and involve no server.
Others are sent from our server: a message from a friend, a friend request, someone accepting yours. For those, the app registers a push token for your device with Apple's and Google's push services and stores it on our server so it knows where to send. The token identifies a device to those services, not you to anyone else, and it is removed when you turn notifications off.
Bro Science is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
